Linkasink has recreated the colors of pearlware
in a vessel sink that is crafted in porcelain. This sink is hand-painted
with a "corn" pattern which was originally seen in American
pottery during the Revolutionary War period.

"Pearly white" earthenwares were first
made in England in the 1770s. The innovation quickly took hold,
as these wares were much whiter than the cream colored earthenwares
typical of the period. Pearlwares were often hand painted, and
were a less expensive alternative to porcelain. The bowl that
inspired this design is housed in the Ceramics and Glass Division
of the National Museum of American History, Behring Center, Smithsonian
Institution.
