Linkasink has created the Castle sink in carved
marble. The sink is hand-crafted by artisans in China and includes
many of the details found on the original lighting fixtures in
the Smithsonian Institution.

This sink was adapted from a lighting fixture in
the Smithsonian Institution Building - the highly recognizable
building commonly known as "The Castle." The large Neo-Classical
holophane glass bowl is adorned with Acanthus leaves - a motif
synonymous with the architecture of ancient Greece and Rome. The
fixture was one of 33 specially designed for the Great Hall of
the Castle and installed in 1915 as part of a building modernization
project.
